Students preparing for college go to great lengths to ensure they have the necessary tools to succeed, but not enough may think about the potential hazards of inadequate protection from vaccine-preventable diseases. Although most college students are healthy, they may be vulnerable to infectious diseases, which can cause substantial morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this article is to educate health care providers about proper vaccination for young adults preparing for college, focusing on individual diseases.
