In a 1957 cover article, Drug Topics noted the service of Congressman Carl T. Durham (D–N.C.), stating that if pharmacy had an award for the pharmacist who had made the greatest contribution to his country's welfare it would have to go to this North Carolina legislator.+1 Described as soft-spoken, stubborn, and prepared, the 11-term congressman played a major role in national legislation affecting pharmacists.
